Dance in Schools 1-3-09 from Amanda Selwyn on Vimeo. This video documentary Bringing Dance to Schools focuses in on our Fall 2007 residency at The Academy for Young Writers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The residency included 20 sessions with four 10th grade classes. The Notes in Motion teaching artist for the residency was Crystal Davis. Entitled "Our Latin Moves," the curriculum surveyed 3 social dance styles: salsa, tango, and merengue while teaching improvisation, dance composition, and performance skills. The 20 sessions culminated with a performance which showcased the students' new dance skills and creative compositions.The documentary was created by Notes in Motion resident video director Zachary Ludescher. |
